Project One World

Peace, a word that is discussed by every person today, is a global concern, an issue that determines the very existence of our planet. There are lots of conferences, books and articles everywhere on the subject. When contesting for any position, in any arena of life, all the leaders promise to bring peace and harmony among everyone. But is there any real peace yet? Have countries disbanded their armies forever? Are border countries friendly with each other yet? Is it easy to get quick visas especially just across the border?

As young leaders of tomorrow, the students of Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, have launched the One World Project a cultural internship facilitated by AIESEC Ahmedabad.

Vasudhaiva kutumbakam is a Sanskrit phrase that means “The whole world is one family”. Taking that as the theme of our project, we have launched the One World project on 4th June 2012.

We have students participating in this project from various corners of the world such as from France, Poland, China, Ukraine, USA, Netherlands, Colombia, Canada, Estonia, Hong Kong and Ireland.

The One World Project is a one month long cultural internship hosted by PDPU. 20 interns from 12 different nationalities have signed up for this exchange and have arrived on campus. In the course of their visit, the interns will attend workshops on Yoga, meditation, photography, food and culture, and much more! Additionally, the interns come from different courses from back home. There will be countless interactions with all these students and hence, the PDPU students shall obtain a huge and diverse platform of opportunities and experience.

Right from planning, execution and delivering, “Project One World” is the brain- child of the students, with guidance from the University.

The University has a special international relations and exchange policy that encourages such events and activities. Further, the University also has a School of Liberal Studies. The course provides a very liberal platform for the students and faculty too to enhance the approach. This project has strengthened the international appeal and furthered the delivery of the liberal studies program which has increased the leverage for all PDPU students including Engineering and Management.

The Global Village will be a two day event, as a part of the One World Project. All the interns representing the countries will put up performances and stalls showcasing their culture, food, folklore, tradition and much more!

Living in a new country, with so many other people, mingling into the crowd, interacting with each other will create a social bond among us all. “One World” as the name of the project suggests that the world is one and we must all live as global citizens.

About Us

Launched in April 2011. AIESEC PDPU is the AIESEC chapter working out of Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India.

An expansion of AIESEC Ahmedabad,  It is headed by Rajaram Surianarayanan, the Local Committee Coordinator ably assisted by Pranav Nair, Vice President-Outgoing Exchange and Sahil Nair, Vice-President-Incoming Exchange.

PDPU, established in 2007, was conceived as Energy University. The initial establishments consisted of SPT (School of Petroleum Technology) and SPM (School of Petroleum Management). It later diversified into various other fields like liberal arts (established through the School of Liberal Studies in 2009). The university has fine industrial backing coupled with international exposure programs offer to all the undergraduate students.

PDPU’s mission is to develop global professionals by providing international educational exchange to the university students and to create visibility of the university in the global educational scenario by collaborating with other reputed institutes and student exchange programs. This makes the AIESEC Chapter in PDPU all the more important. AIESEC provides the ideal platform for the students to experience the cultures, working styles and work ethic on a global scale.

AIESEC PDPU is targeting technical internships in the energy industry especially the Oil and Gas industry specifically targeting the Middle East, South America, Indonesia and other oil producing regions of the world. It is targeting liberal arts students from Europe and North America to intern with the Training and Placement Department.

We are also involved with the local community by helping out local schools in the region, which amount to 10 by conducting annual summer workshops in arts and craft, drama and computer training. Recently it supported other community development initiatives like planting about 300 trees in the campus.

A unique cosmopolitan culture and a mission to develop global professionals supported by state of the art infrastructure makes AIESEC ‘The’ platform for PDPU.

This mission of our EB Veni Vidi Vici (V3) Legacy which translates to I came, I saw, I conquered. Legacy has been added to the mission, an integral part of which is to make AIESEC PDPU an independent AIESEC unit ratified by the board at AIESEC India in the coming year.

AIESEC @ PDPU is a new mover no doubt, but is here to stay!

Cheers!
